2014 Database Letter to Parents

Dear Parents,

We are pleased to announce that the following educational databases are available for D300 students.  The databases can be easily accessed from the Destiny homepage, our library catalog system. To access Destiny go to http://library.d300.org and select your school. You will find the usernames and passwords to access these databases in your child’s assignment notebook or take home folder.

BookFLIX

BookFLIX is a wonderful resource to use with younger children preK-3 or when incorporating children’s literature into lessons. It offers digital books, both fiction and nonfiction.

  • Pairs classic video storybooks from Weston Woods with related nonfiction eBooks from Scholastic

BrainPop

BrainPop covers core curriculum subjects in science, English, math, social studies, technology and health. The database over 1000 animated movies for students in K-12 and each movie is accompanied by a 10-question interactive quiz, experiment, comic strip, timeline, and printable activity page. Subjects include science, social studies, English, mathematics, engineering and technology, health, and arts and music.

Learn360 is a website for K-12 multi-media educational resources. Students have access to over 73,000 media resources from trusted educational publishers and producers which will ENGAGE your students, ENRICH their learning experiences and drive them to EXCEL both inside and outside of the classroom.

 

PebbleGo

PebbleGo is a database for our youngest researchers!

Students can now research from home. Pebble Go is an online research tool which contains four databases: Biographies, Animals, Social Studies, and Earth Science. Pebble Go can be accessed at www.pebblego.com.There is also reading support such as word-by-word highlighting and read-aloud audio.

 

 

 

Powerhouse Knowledge

PowerKnowledge offers an extensive array of resources for students in grades 3-6.

TumbleBooks is an online collection of animated, talking children's picture books as well as puzzles and other fun and educational activities.

 

Type To Learn 4

The typing program we use in the computer lab is Type to Learn 4. Your student’s Type to Learn 4 account can be accessed from home if you have a computer with an internet connection and can load the Type to Learn 4 client software on the computer. The software is free. Your student’s login information is available from the school media specialist. The login allows him or her to use the program. The district login code is 101889.
